Discover Homs Anew with Bab Al Souq Trail
As part of the “The Sun Trails” project, and in collaboration with its long-standing partners, Homs University and the Homs Directorate of Tourism, the Turathuna Foundation organized a new heritage trail through Bab Al-Suq.
The journey began at Homs First Theater, the historic headquarters of the Turathuna Foundation, before continuing into the old city and its traditional markets. Along the way, participants explored a number of stories and details that reflect the rich cultural memory and heritage of Homs.
The trail brought together a diverse group of participants, with a particularly warm presence from Homs expatriates and children, adding a special sense of connection and shared belonging to the experience.
The Foundation was honored by the participation of Ms. Loris Maqsoud, Director of the Homs Directorate of Tourism, alongside Ms. Simaz Naja, Head of the Tourism Marketing and Media Department. Their participation reflected the importance of continued collaboration in promoting the cultural and heritage identity of the city.
The trail also included a visit to the Eastern Corner, where Mr. Jamal Kreish welcomed the participants and generously contributed to the experience through his hospitality and gifts. The Turathuna Foundation extends its sincere gratitude for his warm welcome and cooperation.
More than a journey through streets and landmarks, the Bab Al-Suq trail offered an opportunity to reconnect with the human stories that give Old Homs its unique character. Each trail reveals that heritage is not only found in the buildings and places we see, but also in the stories we hear and in the people who continue to carry a deep love for their city.
The trail was made possible through the dedication of the Turathuna team, including its members and volunteers, as well as the experts of the Foundation’s Advisory Committee, whose efforts continue to support the Foundation’s heritage initiatives.
Through the “Trails of the Sun” project, Turathuna continues to encourage the community to rediscover Homs, one neighborhood, one landmark, and one story at a time—because knowing our place is the first step toward preserving it.
Homs Al-Adiya remains a love that runs through our souls, and a responsibility we carry in our hearts.
