Ludwig van Beethoven (1770–1827): A Lecture & Live Piano Performance with Dr. Ghaswan Zerikly

The Turathuna Foundation hosted a distinguished cultural evening at Homs First Theater, featuring internationally acclaimed pianist, scholar, and educator Prof. Dr. Ghazwan Zarkli, in a special event entitled "Ludwig van Beethoven (1770–1827): A Lecture & Live Piano Performance." The event welcomed more than 150 attendees, including musicians, academics, artists, and members of the local community.

The evening combined live piano performance with an interactive lecture, offering the audience a unique opportunity to explore Beethoven's artistic legacy through both music and dialogue. Prof. Dr. Zarkli performed selected works by Beethoven while presenting insightful reflections on the composer's life and creative journey. The lecture focused on pivotal moments in Beethoven's life, particularly his struggle with hearing loss, his famous Heiligenstadt Testament of 1802, the reasons behind his enduring influence on world music, and an accessible introduction to the structure of the Beethoven piano sonata. The event concluded with an engaging discussion, allowing the audience to interact directly with the speaker and exchange ideas on music, creativity, and cultural heritage.

As the first event of its kind to be held in Homs, the evening marked an important cultural milestone and reflected the Turathuna Foundation's vision of revitalizing Homs First Theater as a vibrant venue for music, arts, knowledge, and cultural dialogue.
