Jerram Foundation

The Jerram Foundation is a unique, not-for-profit social enterprise established by the internationally acclaimed multidisciplinary installation artist Luke Jerram. Operating on an innovative model of creative philanthropy, the foundation actively redistributes profits from Luke Jerram Ltd alongside grants and corporate sponsorships to fund impactful projects across the globe.

Rather than viewing art as a static luxury, the Jerram Foundation harnesses the power of massive public art installations to inspire civic action, build community resilience, and raise vital funds for global causes.

A Multidisciplinary Mission

The foundation's philanthropic work is built around five core pillars:

  • Creative Education: Providing direct funding and resources to support arts and design education for children and young people, particularly in communities impacted by austerity.
  • Empowering Developing Nations: Partnering with local NGOs and international bodies to implement community-led, art-driven development projects.
  • Nurturing Emerging Talent: Offering alternative art education bursaries and annual fellowships to help next-generation artists develop their professional practice.
  • Charitable Fundraising: Creating highly interactive art installations that serve as creative fundraising vehicles—helping charities globally raise millions for critical humanitarian and health issues.
  • Environmental Consciousness: Prioritizing partnerships with organizations that share a steadfast commitment to ecological boundaries and climate action.

Global and Local Collaborations

The foundation’s footprint bridges grassroots community support with major international initiatives. Their diverse roster of global partners includes organizations such as the International National Trusts Organisation (INTO), Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), Marie Curie, and the Turathuna Foundation in Syria.

Their dynamic programming spans highly targeted interventions worldwide:

  • Planetary Health & Advocacy: Actively launching projects like Tipping Point at major botanical gardens to explore ecological limits, raise awareness about deforestation, and encourage industries to shift toward regenerative business models.
    Birmingham Botanical Gardens
  • International Development: Funding tangible infrastructure projects, such as installing playground lighting systems for schools in Homs, Syria, and revitalizing community centers in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
  • Public Health via Art: Supporting global science communication projects, like the Glass Microbiology virus sculptures and international fashion campaigns that promote maternal vaccination in East Africa.
  • Community Forestry & Well-being: Partnering with conservation bodies to present massive public earth works (like Gaia and Museum of the Moon) that foster a deeper human connection to nature and raise funds for homelessness and reforestation charities.
