The "Go Green" Initiative

The "Go Green" initiative is a forward-thinking environmental and educational program designed to raise awareness about our natural heritage. We believe that safeguarding the environment is deeply connected to preserving our national identity. By empowering students to take an active role in protecting their natural resources, the program aspires to instill a profound sense of environmental responsibility from a young age. Through a seamless blend of education and practical application, we aim to cultivate a conscious, proactive generation committed to nurturing and sustaining their natural heritage.

Our Target Audience

The initiative primarily engages primary and middle school students—a crucial age where young minds are most receptive to adopting new concepts as lifelong, foundational values in their daily behavior. Furthermore, the program actively collaborates with teachers and school administrative staff, empowering them as essential partners in guiding the students and ensuring the sustainable success of the initiative.

Program Methodology: Our Core Pathways

To achieve its goals, the "Go Green" initiative operates through two deeply integrated tracks:

  • The Knowledge Pathway: This track features interactive lectures and awareness workshops focused on the vital role of traditional plants in our local environment and heritage. We highlight various native plant species, their ecological benefits, and their crucial role in mitigating climate change. By utilizing engaging visual aids and live demonstrations, we make complex environmental concepts accessible, fostering a genuine love for learning and ecological exploration among the students.
  • The Practical Pathway: Translating knowledge into action, this track engages students in hands-on, agricultural field activities. Together, we work to transform standard schoolyards into vibrant green spaces by planting local and traditional flora that proudly reflect the region’s natural heritage. Students are actively involved in every step—from preparing the soil and planting the seeds to the ongoing care of these new green areas. This hands-on experience deepens their sense of responsibility and solidifies the vital connection between theoretical knowledge and practical environmental stewardship.

Withstanding Change: Heritage Amongst Climate Uncertainty

This project is subsidery of "Withstanding Change: Heritage Amongst Climate Uncertainty" programme, which is led by INTO and the National Trust, funded by the British Council’s Cultural Protection Fund.
